virgin births . . .
written by Dharma, July 23, 2010
hi !
The 'virgin births' information is comprehensive.
It is my belief that the key to understanding the personal significance of many of the 'virgin birth' stories is ancient astrology.

The term 'virgin' (following the ancient astrological stream-of-thought) is unrelated to sex but means, instead, 'to be true'. It is also related to the ancient astrological sign of Virgo.

Archetypally, 'Virgo' is a perfectionist.

For one to embrace the attributes of Virgo and direct those attributes inwardly is to begin the process of 'self purification', meaning to gradually get free of 'corruptions' (i.e., anger, dishonesty, etc., etc.).

As we remove the corruptions from ourselves we begin to experience a new-self emerging. The emerging new-self is actually 'our original self' (timeless, eternal and divine) which is NOT human.

The successful completion of the 'Virgo process' results in our 'liberation' from 'captivity' and a restoration of our 'divine powers'.

It is my opinion that most, if not all, of the 'Virgin Birth Myths/Tales' are secretly relating to the transmutation of the 'fallen human nature' and the restoration of our souls or spirits (see too, alchemy and the transmutation of 'lead' [the heavy metal]) into gold - as an additional metaphor for the restoration process.

As such, the one's who are, initially, 'half God / half human' are us ! and by self-purification we, once again, become divine !

Nowhere (opinion) is this message more pronounced (in metaphor) than in the New Testament and Christ's 'virgin birth'.
Perhaps also, the passages relating to 'The Last Supper' convey the notion of the indwelling Christos (archetypally male/dynamic but NOT gender specific) 'consuming the corruptions' of its fallen human nature and becoming 're-born'.

In the hands of the consensus-reality paradigm, the true message of the tales of 'virgin births' have been (opinion) misconstrued.

I love it that your 'Iconoclast Reports' 'sticks a finger into the eye' of 'consensus reality' and encourages (implies) us to take a new look at our ancient interpretations of 'mythology'.

The 'Cliff Notes' are : we are individualized expressions of God/Dess and, perhaps, we have 'lost our way'.... and the Tales of 'Virgin Births' are milestones, throughout history, which serve as reminders that 'human' can be a 'blackhole' for the Gods/Goddesses who have 'forgotten'.

As beautiful as terrestrial life can be, it is (opinion), never-the-less, a type of temporal confinement imposed by 'Natural Law' or a self-imposition because some liberated souls return to 'rescue' those whom they love (Bodhisattva) .

An additional metaphor is 'crucifixion' ... or, restated, the imprisonment of a spiritual being in a mortal/physical context.
A 'God/Dess' confined to 'the underworld' until he or she begins the process of self-purification leading to ultimate liberation !

Knowledge is Power ! The 'Christos' who 'died' for (because of) our 'sins' (errors) is laying dormant in the 'stable' of human consciousness. Love, as it so often is, is the key, because 'love' gradually 'erodes' the self-interest which lead to our confinement.

Ancient astrology (Man's first religion) holds the key (opinion) to decoding the Myths of Virgin Births.

Addendum :

The "Crown of Thorns" placed upon the head of the Christos represents the status-quo / socio-cultural 'mindset'. i.e., what 'society' professes as 'truth'.
The "half human / Half God" context of the Virgin Birth Mythos has also been trashed by the 'socio-cultural mindset' (as described/referenced) with the dichotomy being Jesus, the human and Christ, the indwelling divinity. With the additional and possibly fatal conundrum of 'God' being an exclusively 'external' phenomenon.

I suppose the key to assist understanding this 'inner divinity' stuff comes from The Hanged Man in the ancient Tarot. The Hanged Man energetic is (key word) 'reversal'. In other words we 'reverse flush' the socio-cultural mindset and allow ourselves to consider, at first, the possibility that we, in fact, have mysterious and divine origins and that 'Christ' represents every human being and potentiality.

'Consciousness' has vast powers, including the power to create a compelling illusion and 'trick itself'.
